RED HOT PURPLE ANGELS OUTING – Thursday, September 22 Tour of the Ford-Rouge Plant. The cost is approximately $15 for nonmembers, $13 for members. Parking is $6 per car. We will be able to buy tickets at the event. It will be cheaper to carpool due to parking charge. We will leave church at 10:30 AM. We hope to take the 11 or 11:15 tour. If you want to meet at the Henry Ford Museum please contact Kathy Williams. A bus leaves every 15 minutes from the museum for the tour. We will go out to lunch following the tour at a Dearborn restaurant. Looking forward to October 27 – Halloween Bunco night We will meet at 7 PM in the West Room. Bring $5. Bunco is easy you don’t have to know how to play ahead of time. Wear a costume or Halloween shirt. There will be a sign-up sheet on the RHPA Bulletin Board. Kathy Williams is the contact.

HEALTH MINISTRIES – Exercise Classes - Exercise is important to our health. We are doing Zumbato a DVD at 4 PM on Wednesdays in the West Room unless otherwise advertised.  Just show up and join in the fun & fellowship!  If you are interested but can’t attend on Wednesday’s or this is a poor time of the day for you please contact Parish Nurse, Kathy Williams. Shalom – Chronic disease group meeting. We usually meet the 2nd Monday on each month at 1PM. Our next meeting is September 19th at 1 PM (3rd Monday).  All are welcome. The October 10th 1:00 p.m. meeting will gather at Kathy Williams’ home.  Matter of Balance – The next 8-week session for those having problems with balance or fear of falling is scheduled to begin Monday, October 17th 12:45 – 2:45 p.m.  The spring session was well received.  Please complete a make a wish card, contact the office or Kathy Williams if you are interested or would like more information. Health/Medical supplies –If you have or need medical supplies, such as walkers, wheelchairs, unopened packages of diapers, diabetic supplies, etc., please contact Kathy Williams.  A Flu Clinic is planned for Thursday, Oct. 13 from 6-7:30 PM.


   THE 2016 WOMEN’S RETREAT is about Women and Forgiveness at the beautiful Michindoh   

   Conference Center, Hillsdale Saturday, September 10 – Sunday, September 11.  The fee is $95,  

   which includes your room, 3 meals, and materials.  You also have the option of going on Friday  

   afternoon. (2 nights and 5 meals is $155.)  If you don’t eat dinner on Friday, there is a slight  

   difference.  The leaders are Debbie Case, Vickie Snow, and Linda Clark.  The retreat will feature,  

   large & small group activities, singing, free time, & lots of fun & fellowship.  Please sign up by  

   contacting the church office for a registration form at 313-291-1221 (Payment is due at time of  

   registration).  The retreat is appropriate for women of all ages.  If you have any questions, contact

   “PAR FOR THE COURSE” a golf outing sponsored by Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry  

  is Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Taylor Meadows Golf Course, 25360 Ecorse Rd, Taylor.    

  This is a four-person scramble to help raise funds to help “Ensure No One Goes Hungry” in the  

  communities they serve.  The golf package includes:  Continental Breakfast, 18 holes with a cart,  

  lunch, raffles prizes, dinner, two- hour bar service, and more.  8:00 a.m. registration, 9:00 a.m.  

  shotgun start.  Informational brochures are available on the table in the West Lobby.  Please

REDUCING THE RISK classes scheduled. St. Paul’s Child Protection Policy requires that all adults and youth over the age of 18, who work with children more than 10 hours a year, complete the “Reducing the Risk” Training Class and fill out a work application which includes a formal Criminal Background Check, every two years.  During the class people learn the specifics of the St. Paul Policy regarding working with children and tips and information on how to handle situations as they arise.  This year’s class has been scheduled for Sunday, October 2nd from 9:00 – 10:00 AM and again on Sunday, October 9th from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, both classes will take place in the Church Parlor.  If you have questions regarding your need to attend this mandatory training, please contact Pastor Cheryl Schalm or Dan Case. 

SEWING GUILD Sew ‘n Sews Our next gathering will be Thursday, September 15th at 10:00

a.m. Please join us for fun and fellowship.  No sewing experience necessary.  Bring a sandwich.  

Beverage and dessert provided.

PASTOR GEOFF DRUTCHAS will be on vacation the month of August.  In case of pastoral  

emergency, please contact Pastor Cheryl Schalm or Parish Nurse, Kathy Williams.  Single worship 

services continue through September 4, 2016.  Summer Sunday School is also held at 9:30 a.m.

LEAVES FOR OUR CONGREGATION’S new “Tree of Faith” continue to be available for  

those who wish to honor or commemorate family members and events. The cost of each leaf is  

$300 with proceeds helping to fund “A Room with a View.” The tree will be located in the narthex,  

just outside the entrance to the new building addition.  Those who wish to have a leaf in place in  

time for the dedication of the new addition and the “Tree of Faith” unveiling are encouraged to  

complete their request as soon as possible using the blue cards available in the pews or by going to  

the Church Website “” click on the ‘Giving” tab to access Vanco Services

and utilize our new highly secure electronic giving site.  Purchases can be debited automatically  from your checking or savings account, or from your debit or credit card.

PLEASE REMEMBER to complete a kitchen check list and put it in the Trustees box in the

West Room after the kitchen has been used.  Completed check lists are not being received on a 

regular basis.  Blank forms are located on the cupboard door near the large coffee pot.


 ONLINE WEEKLY YOUTH BIBLE STUDY All youth (6-12 grades) interested in participat-

 ing in a weekly online Bible study are asked to send Pastor Schalm their email address. Each  

 Monday a topic affecting young people will be addressed and discussed according to scripture  

 versus pop culture. Youth will have the opportunity to share their insights throughout the week

 on the subject as their schedules permit. This is a great opportunity to stay connected and to grow  

 in the knowledge of Christ despite a hectic schedule. All communication will be done through a
